Fish Fry Or Corned Beer And Cabbage: Which Would You Pick?
This past weekend was a very interesting weekend for Foodie in Western New York. We are right in the middle of Lent, which means Fish Fries, but we also had two St. Patrick's Day parades, and that means Corned Beef and Cabbage, so which one is better?

Why A Fish Fry Is Better
If you look at the Fish Fry, there is nothing better than a beer-battered massive piece of fish overhanging your plate with a couple of sides like coleslaw and mac salad. The thing with the Fish Fry is that it is rare outside of Lent. While some places in Western New York offer them year round usally most places only offer them for 40 days, and that is it. It is the anticipation of Fish Fry season that adds to the allure of the dish. Plus, you can find a great Fish Fry just about anywhere in the 716, from Restaurants, to churches, to VFWs and Firehalls.

Why Corned Beef And Cabbage Is Better
This is a true staple Irish dish, and while most non-Irish people will eat it during St Patrick's Day week, it is a dish that has been around for a long time and one that is served at any good Irish place in Western New York. You get a little bit of everything with Corned Beef and Cabbage. Meat, veggies, potatoes. It is a hearty meal that you can get at plenty of restaurants, but also one that you can make at home, easy peasy.
