Hundreds Of Tickets Issued In Western New York
Police across Western New York were very busy over the long Memorial Day weekend
During the New York State Troopers' annual "STOP-DWI" High visibility engagement campaign during Memorial Day weekend, police in Western New York wrote almost 800 tickets.

The campaign for Memorial Day kicked off on Friday, May 24th, and went the entire weekend until Monday, May 27th. During these four days, New York State Troopers and other local police departments had more than normal amounts of patrols out on the roads.

According to a press release from New York State Governor Kathy Hochul, police in Western New York issued 795 tickets during the long four-day weekend.
Here is a breakdown of the tickets issued by the police.
Speeding: 222
DWI Arrests: 10
Distracted Driving: 11
Seatbelt Violations: 121
Move Over Law: 5

Police will be busy over the next couple of months as well. Here is when you can expect the New York State Police to increase their DWI patrols and checkpoints as part of the "STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign".
