Today was a hot one but it seems that August 27th is always hot in Western New York.

While we didn't break any records today, August 27th is the hottest day on record in Buffalo.

It was on this day back in 1948 that Buffalo reached its hottest day ever on record, not just for the 27th, but for any day.

It was on that day, officials recorded a high of 99 degrees. Buffalo has never been in triple digits when it comes to a high temperature and we have only been this close once.

That was on August 27th, 1948.

Besides the heat today, we do have a risk of severe weather across all of Western New York.

The good news is the heat won't stay with us very long. The storms today and the hot and humid weather should be gone this evening and tomorrow we will be back to more normal temperatures for the region.
