Here are today's top headlines in Western New York.

1 –Our streak of 80 degrees or warmer will continue today in Western New York. We have had 8 straight days of temps above 80 and today’s high is expected to reach 83. It looks like today will be the last day for the streak as a weather front will bring some rain and cooler temperatures this weekend. We could see rain on and off tomorrow, Sunday, and Monday ahead of the Bills game, so get out and enjoy the nice day today if you can.

2 –Former Buffalo Sabres Captain Kyle Okposo is hanging up his skates. Okposo announced that he is retiring after 17 years in the NHL. He was the 7th overall draft pick in the 2006 NHL draft by the New York Islanders. He joined the Sabres in 2016 as a free agent and played over 500 games in Buffalo, he was traded to Florida at the trade deadline last season and would go on to win his 1st ever Stanley Cup with the Panthers.

3 – It is Friday and the weekend is here and there are plenty of things going on. Tomorrow is National Sponge Candy Day and Fowlers Chocolates have teamed up with FeedMore WNY for a donation drive. Catherine Shick from FeedMore said you can pick up a sweet treat from Fowlers tomorrow. Also on tap this weekend, Celino Plumbing is looking for members of Bills Mafia to be part of a TV commercial. You need to wear red and blue colors, nothing with a Bills logo, and head out to the Mafia House on Sunday from Noon-2 pm and then Prohibition 2020 from 2-4 pm and it is back, Free Bar Bingo at Bloomfield’s tonight during their Happy Hour. 4 – The National Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester recently announced the 2024 Hall of Fame Finalist. They include Apples to Apples, Choose Your Own Adventure Gamebooks, My Little Pony, Phase 10, Pokémon Trading Card Game, Remote-Controlled Vehicles, Trampolines, Transformers, and more. One of the most controversial picks is the balloon, which many people argue is not a toy. The final inductees will be announced in November.

5 – Officials with the New York State DEC are warning residents of increase deer activity over the next several months. Deer are more active in the month of September and October and could be near roads as they look for food. Deer are also most active at dusk and dawn so make sure when you are driving you are away so that you can see more deer on the side of the roads.
6 – Well it looks like the weather for the Bills game could be a little wet. Early forecasts for the game have temperatures in the mid to upper 60s with scattered rain showers. If you are headed out to the game, make sure you have some rain gear, and don’t forget to stop by the “We Are Buffalo” tailgate. We are out before every home game at Prohibition 2020 with live music from Hair Nation.
