
How To Collect Unclaimed Funds In New York State
If you are looking for some extra cash, New York State might owe you some.
Every day, the state tries to return unclaimed funds to their rightful owners. On average, New York State gives back around $1.5 million in unclaimed funds every day.
Some of that money could be yours, and it is really easy to see if you are owed anything.

New York State's Comptroller has a decided website set up for you to check and see if any of the current $19 billion of unclaimed money is yours.
You can find out if you are owed any money in three easy steps.
STEP ONE:
Log on to the State Comptroller's website HERE.
STEP TWO:
Use the search engine to see if the state has any unclaimed money in your name or your business/organization's name
STEP THREE:
If the state does owe you any money, you can submit a claim right through the website. You can also submit a claim by mail. If you use the mail, you have to print out some documents, fill them out, and then mail them to the Comptroller's office.

After you submit a claim, you can track the progress of that claim online as well. You will need to input the claim reference number into the website search engine, and you will get an update on your claim.
