It could be another summer of hazy, smoky air for parts of New York State.

Wildfires continue to burn in Canada, and if the winds continue the way they are, we could end up getting a lot of the smoke from those fires in New York.

This summer could end up like 2023, when air quality warnings were issued across the state.

Canadian Wildfire Smoke Coming To New York State?

As this past Friday, a lot of the smoke from the Canadian Wildfires was moving into the Midwest and over the western Great Lakes.


If that smoke continues to move East, it would move across New York State.

The current wildfire smoke map from Canada has some smoke moving across New York State today and into Sunday. It looks like most of it could remain high enough where air quality alerts won't be triggered.

This is just the start to wildfire season, which means we could end up having a summer full of wild smoke across New York State.
