Most times rookies will spend some time in the minors or back with their junior club before making the leap to the NHL. Benson shows Sabres coaches enough promise during the preseason to make the roster.
The other big news that is different from most of the other NHL teams is that the Buffalo Sabres will have three goaltenders on their roster. Most NHL teams only carry two during the season. Devon Levi is expected to be the team's #1 goalie while Eric Comrie and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen will split the back-up duties.
The Sabres also have the youngest team in the NHL based on the average age of the roster.
This season the Sabres are hoping to continue the hot run they had in the second half of last season and are trying to make the playoffs for the first time since 2011.

If you are heading to the game tomorrow, make sure you get there early for the Party in Plaza. The players will walk the Blue and Gold carpet before the game to interact with fans. The party starts at 4 pm.
