Bluetooth To Become Illegal In New York State?
The way you talk and communicate could change very soon here in New York State.
There is a new bill in the New York State Senate that would ban the use of certain Bluetooth and wireless devices while in your car.
What Is Senate Bill S1054?
The new bill, which has been proposed by Senator John C. Liu from New York's 16th Senate District, calls for all head-mounted devices to be illegal when you are in your vehicle.
That means earbuds, GoPro cameras, and other devices could lead to you getting fined by the police.
What Other Changes Does The Bill Propose?
The bills would also change the meaning of "Driving" to include vehicles that are stopped in traffic or at a stop sign to be considered to be in motion. So if you were to use your wireless earpiece when stopped in traffic, you could still get fined.

This law would be on top of the current law that bans the use of mobile devices while driving. This new bill could only allow for Bluetooth connections to be made to the car through CarPlay or other technology.
You can read the proposed Bill HERE.
This bill is currently in the beginning stages of becoming a bill and has not reached the level to be voted on by either the Senate or the House of Representatives.
