A few weeks ago my grandma, who has a serious sweet tooth, and I made a very serious search for the best ice cream places in Buffalo. And of course because we were so dedicated to finding the absolute best we had to sample the most popular flavors at each establishment we went to. At the end of the day we had what appeared to be permanent ice cream headaches and dried ice cream all down the front of our shirts but it was worth it because after some serious consideration we finally came up with our list of the best ice cream places in Buffalo and here they are:

Sweet Jenny’s

5732 Main St.
Williamsville, NY 14221

Sweet Jenny’s was our first stop on our quest for great ice cream and it definitely didn’t disappoint. All the ice cream at Sweet Jenny’s is house made, as are the delicious waffle cones. I tried the peanut butter ice cream a Sweet Jenny’s specialty since they are the only ice cream shop around that sells straight peanut butter ice cream, and my grandma tried the blackberry ice cream, which she loved. All in all we both agreed that Sweet Jenny’s is a great place to go with the family on a warm summer night with its charming décor and close proximity to the park.

Fowlers Chocolates

754 Elmwood Ave
Buffalo, NY 14222

Fowlers Chocolates was a must stop at for our journey for the best ice cream in Buffalo because both my grandma and I are Nardin girls at heart and as every Nardin girl knows no gym class is complete without doing limited aerobic exercise and then walking to Fowlers for ice cream. The ice cream at Fowlers is Perry’s and is delicious they have several unusual flavors and of course the staples like chocolate and vanilla. My grandma decided to sit this one out and just indulge in some of Fowlers famous sponge candy while I sampled the Red Velvet ice cream, which I have to say, was one of my favorite flavors of the day.

Watson's Chocolate

738 Elmwood Avenue
Buffalo, NY 14222

Watsons Chocolate like Fowlers is a Nardin girl staple being that it is located just a block away from the school so of course we stopped in to try their ice cream. Watsons has Anderson’s ice cream that is custom made just for Watsons which means that along with all the normal Andersons classic flavors Watsons has some that are made exclusively for Watsons. My grandma and I both sampled Watsons custom flavors, she tried the Sponge Candy flavor and I tried the Charlie Chaplin flavored ice cream. We both gave Watsons two thumbs up and agreed we would have to go back again soon.

Parkside Candy

3208 Main Street
Buffalo, NY 14214

I had never been to Parkside previous to this ice cream quest and I was surprised how adorable the shop is inside. The staff Parkside was really friendly and helpful and informed us that Parkside serves up Turkey Hill ice cream and that their most popular flavors are the Fireball and the Vanilla. I tried that Fireball and my grandma tried the Vanilla. I have to say that I went into the Fireball thinking that I wouldn’t like it but I was proved wrong and I can see how it is one of the most popular flavors.

Alethea’s Candy

8301 Main Street
Williamsville, New York

Alethea’s was our last stop on our ice cream quest and I think we may have saved one of the best for last. Alethea’s serves up custom made Perry’s ice cream that comes in a variety of flavors the most popular of which are Cannoli and Vanilla Party Girl. I tried the Cannoli ice cream and absolutely loved it and despite the fact that after a day of sampling ice cream I should have been unable to even look at any more ice cream I was ready to order a large bowl of it. My grandma for her part tried the Vanilla Party Girl which she enjoyed despite being a little surprised when she tasted peanut butter in it.
