Are You Washing Your Hands Correctly? A New Study Says Probably Not!

My first job was working at a grocery store, and as part of our initial training, we were taught how to properly wash our hands. I know that sounds weird, but 50 percent of all foodborne illnesses are transmitted from improper hand washing!

The training said that we needed to wash our hands for a full 15-20 seconds, and since we obviously wouldn't be bringing a stopwatch with us to the bathroom, they gave us this helpful hint! If you sing "Happy Birthday" to yourself twice, you will have washed your hands for about 18-20 seconds.
