Juliette Lamour who is just 18, won the grand prize of $48 million in an Ontario Lottery and Gaming drawing.
She became the youngest multi-million dollar lottery winner in Canada's history.
According to WPDE, Lamour said the winning lottery ticket was the first lottery ticket ever bought.
To top it off, the win was beginner's luck. After getting her check on Friday, Lamour told the crowd her grandfather had encouraged her to buy her first-ever lottery ticket for fun.
Lottery officials said that Lamour bought the ticket last month and matched all the numbers in the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball jackpot draw. They say she is the youngest player to ever win that amount of money.
Lamour who is in her first year as a university student plans on using the money to pay for her college degree and medical school where she wants to become a doctor.
She joins a long list of Ontario Lottery Gaming winners already in 2023.
Winners so far include several one-million-dollar winners, and several hundred-thousand-dollar winners. There were several multi-million dollar winners in 2022.
There was one winner named Gary that took home $22 million dollars last year, and another who won just over $36 million dollars.
