Is Friday The 13th Really An Unlucky Day?
Today is a day many people fear, it is Friday the 13th. Many people consider this day to be very unlucky, but why? One might think it has to do with a fictional mass killer named Jason from the Friday the 13th horror movies, but it started much earlier than that.
Why Is Friday The 13th Considered Unlucky?
One reason is that 13 comes right after 12, and in many cultures, the number 12 is considered the perfect number, so when you get to 13, you throw things off-balance. That means if 12 is perfect, then 13 would be considered imperfect, and if 12 is lucky, then 13 would be unlucky.
As for the Friday part, back in the days of the Romans, they would execute and crucify people on Fridays. If you remember from the Bible, Jesus was crucified on a Friday. So if you were to ask anyone from those ancient times, they would tell you that the day a lot of people were put to death would be unlucky.
