Here Is What’s Happening In WNY: Wednesday Edition
Here is what's happening across Western New York for your Wednesday.
1 –The rain will continue today across Western New York. We had a pretty fast-moving storm early this morning around 3:30 am and the rain will be on and off throughout the day. Most of the rain will be in the afternoon so we are looking for a much wetter drive home from work and school than heading in. That rain will be back tomorrow before sunshine returns to the forecast for Friday.

2 –Did you hear or see them yesterday afternoon? Military helicopters were in the sky above Western New York and a lot of people were wondering why. My wife Elizabeth and I saw them over the village of Hamburg around 4 pm yesterday. According to the Hamburg Police, they are part of a military training event that is taking place this week. You can expect to see the helicopters in the sky all this week.
3 – NYSEG has announced that Smart Meters are coming to Western New York and you can learn more about the meters and how they will impact you at a public meeting in West Seneca tomorrow night. The open forum will be held at the West Seneca Library on Union Road tomorrow night from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. You can also find out when smart meters will be installed in your neighborhood. I live in Hamburg and it looks like smart meters will be installed near me next Summer.

4 – Tomorrow you can enjoy some great local brews and food to help out the ARC of Erie County is holding the annual Ale Trail tomorrow night and according to Kristie Edwards the director of Community Relations for the ARC Erie County, there will be lots of options to sample from over 20 + breweries. Tickets are available for $40 for the alcohol tasting and $10 for non-alcohol tastings. The event will run tomorrow from 4:30 until 9 pm and will feature live music from local bands.

5 – Last night’s Mega Millions drawing has turned one New Yorker into a millionaire. The New York State Lottery announced that there were two “Big Money” winning tickets sold in New York from last night’s Mega Millions drawing with one of those tickets winning the 2nd place prize of $1 million dollars. The other ticket won the 3rd place prize of $10,000. Make sure to check those tickets before heading to work or school this morning.
6 – While Bills Mafia continues to celebrate the Bills Monday Night win over Jacksonville, it turned out to be a good week for Bills Rookies. Keon Coleman and Ray Davis each scored their 1st ever NFL touchdown while Buffalo Joe, Lancaster native Joe Andreessen got to play in his first NFL game. He talked about the emotion that comes will playing for your hometown team (audio) Up next for the Bills is a Sunday Night Primetime game on the road against the Baltimore Ravens.
