5 Western New York Places That NEED To Be Renamed

President-elect Donald Trump announced his plans to change the name of the "Gulf of Mexico" to the "Gulf of America".

That got us thinking that there are plenty of things in Western New York that need a name change.

Here are the Top 5 we came up with.

SCAJAQUADA EXPRESSWAY

The 198 was named after the Scajaquada Creek, which runs along the expressway, but if you ask anyone outside of Western New York the name it, they can't pronounce it properly and just call it the 198. So we should just change the name to The 198 or something that might be a little bit easier to say. Names like Buffalo Expressway, or Nickle City Expressway make sense and still keep the name local.

JAVA

Now there is nothing wrong with the town of Java, except 99% of people outside the town of Java pronounce it JA-VA while the other 1% pronounce it like the founders intended, JAY-VA. No one looking at the town of Java on a map would ever think to call it JAY-VA, so want not just change the name to the most common pronunciation, JA-VA.

HIGHMARK STADIUM

I know that the Bills get a lot of money selling the naming rights of the stadium, but since most of the new stadium was financed by taxpayers, the name of the stadium should be changed. something like Western New York Park, or The 716 Bowl would be great. Or even better, change it back to Ralph Wilson Stadium in honor of the man who brought Pro Football to Buffalo. Plus we can call it "The Ralph" again.

BUFFALO CHICKEN WINGS

As of the time of this writing, most people in America associate Chicken Wings with the City of Buffalo, so we can just drop the name "Buffalo" and just call them "Wings" If you order wings anywhere in America, you just assume they are "Buffalo" wings.

BUFFALO SABRES

While I don't want the team to leave Western New York, the name "Buffalo Sabres" has not been lucky at all for hockey fans. Maybe we change the name to the "Buffalo Goatheads" or even better "Buffalo Bandits". Maybe a switch of the name to the Bandits will make the Sabres play like the Bandits and make the playoffs!
