What You Need To Know About Voting In New York
We are now just five weeks away from the 2024 elections and there are some deadlines you need to know that happen soon if you want to vote.

Here in New York, there are deadlines that you need to make if you want to register to vote or vote by mail in this year's election.
Registration deadlines
- Register in person at the local election office by October 26th
- Register online by October 26th
- Register by mail: It must received by October 26th

Absentee ballot deadlines
- Request for a ballot must be received by October 26th
- All mail-in ballots must be returned and postmarked by November 5th
- If you return your ballot in person it must be done by November 5th by 9 pm.
Voting deadlines
- Early voting in New York State will run from October 26 until November 3rd.
- In-person voting will be on election day: November 5

If you want to vote in New York this year you must meet these guidelines:
- be a United States Citizen;
- be 18 years old (you may pre-register at 16 or 17 but cannot vote until you are 18);
- be a resident of this state and the county, city, or village for at least 30 days before the election;
- not be in prison for a felony conviction;
- not be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court;
- not claim the right to vote elsewhere

Here is what you will need to register to vote:
- NYS driver's license, permit, or non-driver ID card
- ZIP Code currently on record with the DMV
- Social security number
