Are Truck Owners In New York State Going Broke To Ride Big?
New York State truck owners of one particular make and model may be spending an extraordinary amount of money just to ride big. According to new data from Edmunds, some truck owners have four-figure car notes.
Ford Authority says that more than a third of Ford F-150 owners – 36 percent – are paying more than $1,000 per month for their auto loan. To top that, gas prices in New York State have been ridiculously high. According to Triple-A, the average price per gallon in New York State is $3.658. Add in license plate fees, title, inspections, registration fees, insurance, and maintenance costs, and many truck owners in New York may be going into debt just to own their F-150s.
To put it in perspective, the median monthly cost of owning a home in the United States is $1,609 per month, according to data from the Census Bureau's 2019 American Community Survey.
The cash prices of the F-series for 2023 models range from $35,630 for an F-150 XL to $86,705 for an F-150 Limited.

Despite worrisome macroeconomic conditions, Americans are spending more money than ever on new vehicle purchases. In the past decade, we’ve seen Americans embrace a bigger-is-better mindset by gravitating toward larger vehicles with more creature comforts, technology-heavy features and, more recently, electrified powertrains – but that all comes with added cost. Rising interest rates combined with higher prices has sent monthly payments soaring to new heights.
Eventually, anyone who wants to own a truck in New York State will be required to purchase an eclectic truck. Ford offers the F-150 Lightning, an all-electric truck.

In addition to being expensive, some Ford trucks are very popular among car thieves. According to the most recent data from the National Insurance Crime Bureau, 2019 Ford pick-up trucks are among the top 10 most popular stolen vehicles.

Thieves are also targeting Ford's F-Series to steal catalytic converters. According to CarFax, the F-Series is popular in the Northeast to steal catalytic converters:
