Town of Amherst is Not Happy About What’s Happening Here On Sheridan Drive
Western New York has seen a lot of great development over the last decade. Most notably, all the work that has been done at Canalside and near Buffalo RiverWorks, as those areas were not utilized properly for many years.
The suburbs have also seen some terrific development in recent years. One town that was hoping to see the first of its kind in the way of an open-air retail space, will sadly have to start over again with getting a massive site under construction.
Amherst Town Supervisor, Brian Kulpa, tells WIVB that they have an "abusive developer from out of state," who has not done anything since the pandemic started with the massive site located on Sheridan Drive.
The site was supposed to be Station Twelve, which would have been an upscale, open-air retail space with tons of businesses for locals to shop at.
WS Development was supposed to start construction again this summer but they have not done anything and now, Kulpa and the Town of Amherst will just let their permit with thee site run out at the end of 2021.
The problem here is that some structures have already been built, so WS Development would need to spend money to take them down and sell to someone else to do what they want with thee site.
It looks as if Station Twelve will not be happening, however, and a disappointment for the Town of Amherst. It's shocking that a development company would just decide to not show up to the construction site. With the amount of legal trouble that could create, how is that even possible?
