TikTok is a mobile app designed to allow users to create and post photos and videos.

HOW DOES TIKTOK WORK?

Users created a profile and then they can upload photos and videos. They can also search and watch other users' photos and videos. They can interact with other users and follow them as well.

WHO CREATED TIKTOK?

TikTok was created by a Chinese company called ByteDance.

WHY DO GOVERNMENTS WANT TO BAN TIK TOK

Some governments feel that Tik Tok is being used to spy on their citizens and collect data. The company has also been criticized for banning certain content from viewers.

IS TIKTOK BANNED IN NEW YORK?

Currently, the app is banned from being on government-issued devices. It can be downloaded and used on personal devices in New York.

IS TIKTOK BANNED IN MONTANA?

WILL THIS AFFECT NEW YORK STATE LAW?

It could, if lawmakers in New York see and feel the ban in Montana is working, they could try to pass a similar law. If they do that would make Tik Tok illegal to download in the state.
