Today, April 12th, is Tax Freedom Day across America!  A day when many Americans are finally free of their tax burden for 2011, but not in New York State!

The Tax Foundation  says Americans will spend an average 28-percent of their annual income this year to pay federal, state and local taxes, and for many this is Tax Freedom Day.  Since each state and locality has varying tax rates, not everyone can celebrate today.  Unfortunately, New Yorkers will have to wait another 12 days, until April 24th, to shake off Uncle Sam's tax man. Of all 50 states in the Union, New York has the third latest Tax Freedom Day.  Folks in New Jersey will have to wait until April 29th to be free of their annual tax commitment and those in Connecticut are working until May 2nd to pay their taxes this year.
