After this weekend's blizzard and just weeks after our Thanksgiving weekend Lake Effect snow event you probably think we got a lot of snow here in Western New York.

Well, you would be 100% correct.

It turns out that before we say goodbye to the year 2022 this weekend, this year will be one of the snowiest in Western New York history.

So far this year, we have received over 179 inches of snow which is more snow than we got in 1977 and 1985. We have gotten more snow this year than any other year since 1939.

The Buffalo Niagra International airport received over 50 inches of snow during the blizzard which is more than half of what they usually get for an entire Winter season.

The good news is that we are expected to see a warmup this weekend across Western New York. A warm front will move in starting late Thursday evening and by the time we ring in the New Year, we could have temperatures in the 50s. That is a sharp contrast from last weekend when we saw single digits temperatures in the overnight hours.
