Soggy fields, muddy diamonds.  If you're kids play spring sports outdoors, then you know all to well how the rain delays and cancels all the fun!  All of my daughter, Jen's, lacrosse games have been postponed so far because the field is underwater.  Today, Ryan's travel baseball team is scheduled to open the season... let's keep our fingers crossed for good weather!

Ryan plays for the Lancaster-Depew Blue Lightning.  Most of the boys on "Blue" have been together for a couple of years now and it shows both on and off the field.  There's a great deal of camaraderie between them and teamwork as well.  They've worked hard all winter preparing for today.  They've cheered each other on during practice, but yet competed to be the best on the field.  They meet regularly off the field too, playing video games, hockey and attending each others birthday parties.  The photo here was taken last season, when we all went to a Bisons game and the boys were on the field for the first pitch.  We're really lucky to have found a team like this.

I have to laugh when I think of the end of last season.  It was sad to say good-bye to everyone in early August.  Then, the email came from the league that tryouts for next season would be held at the end of August.  By November, all the boys were practicing as a team again.  There really was no good-bye.  I won't get too upset this year come August.

For now though, somebody tell Mike Randall to turn off the rain, we want to go out and play... a little baseball, a little lacrosse, maybe some basketball too!
