Coming up next week will be a very rare astronomical event that you will be able to see in the sky high above New York State.

This Monday (June 3rd) a "Parade of Planets" will take place in the sky. There will be six planets in our solar system that will all be lined up in a row and visible from Earth.

The planets Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune will all be lined up along the ecliptic so they should be visible all in a row.

The best time to see this event will be just before dawn, but there could be some issues seeing it with just the naked eye. Due to light pollution and glare, the chances of seeing all six planets is slim to none.

The six-planet alignment is very rare. The most common alignment is between Two planets which can happen several times a year. Alignments involving four or more planets are much more rare, a six-planet alignment usually only happens a few times a decade.
