One “Big Money” Christmas Powerball Winner In New York
The presents kept on coming for one lucky Powerball player in New York on Christmas night as the New York State Lottery announced that there was one "Big Money" winning tickets sold in New York last night.
That ticket took home the 3rd place prize of $50,000 after it matched four out of five numbers and also had the Powerball.
Wednesday's winning Powerball numbers were: 15-26-27-30-35 with a Powerball of 03.
No one claimed the grand prize so the jackpot for Saturday's drawing is up to $145 million dollars.
That jackpot is 34% of the total amount of money collected while the other % of the money collected for prizes is used to play out the 2nd place, 3rd place, 4th place, 5th place, 6th place, 7th place, 8th place, and 9th place winners.
The odds of winning a prize while playing Powerball is 1 in 24.90. It costs two dollars per ticket or $3 per ticket to play the Powerplay.
If you can't wait to win a big jackpot, you can buy tickets for Friday night's Mega Millions drawing. That jackpot is up to a New York State record-breaking $1.15 billion dollar grand prize.
Friday's Mega Millions jackpot is almost triple the current record for the largest lottery in New York State. That record was set back in April of 2023. New York City resident Johnnie Talyor won the Mega Millions jackpot of $476 million dollars.
The odds of winning the Mega Millions grand prize is 1 in 302,575,350.
