New York State is known worldwide for its pizza but you would be surprised by what city in the state has been rated #1 for pizza.

Even though it seems like there is a pizza parlor on every corner in New York City the "Big Apple" wasn't rated #1 on the list put out by rent.com.
Buffalo is known for its unique cupped pepperoni style of pizza and while it is very good and delicious, Buffalo only came in at number 7 on the Top 10 list of best cities for pizza.
What other New York cities are left that could be at the top of the list? Albany, Syracuse, Binghamton? All no. None of them even made the Top 10. So what New York town was ranked #1? It is the Flower City, aka Rochester, New York was ranked as the best city for pizza in the entire country.
Rochester has the 4th most pizza places per square mile in the entire country. Over 18% of all restaurants are pizzerias. Rochester also has over 70 pizzerias per 100,000 people which is the 2nd highest in the country per capita.

Cities were ranked based on a weighted scoring system using three categories: pizza restaurants per square mile, per capita, and as a proportion of all restaurants within the city. All categories were given equal weight.
