The good news is that if you want to lower your odds of a mosquito attack, you can wear certain colors.

According to new data from research done at the University of Washington, there are certain colors that mosquitos tend to attack and be drawn to over other colors.

Mosquitos tend to fly toward specific colors, including red, orange, black and cyan. The mosquitoes ignore other colors, such as green, purple, blue and white. The researchers believe these findings help explain how mosquitoes find hosts, since human skin, regardless of overall pigmentation, emits a strong red-orange “signal” to their eyes.

Besides wearing different colors, you can use plants to help keep mosquitos at bay this summer.

Plants like Rosemary, Basil, and Catnip give off strong smells that mosquitos don't like.

Keeping mosquitos away from you this summer is a very good idea. Mosquitos are considered to be one of the deadliest insects in the world.
