Today is the final day for you to do this in New York State as big changes are coming to New York State and the rest of the country next Tuesday.

The Mega Millions announced a major price hike that will start with the April 8th drawing. That means tonight's drawing is the last time you can get a ticket for the Mega Millions for only $2.

Ticket prices will jump from $2 per ticket or $3 per ticket with the multiplier to $5 per ticket. The new $5 price includes the multiper with every ticket. The multiplier can double, triple, quadruple, or even increase the prize amount by 5 or 10 times the amount.

Also, with the increase in ticket prices comes better odds of winning a prize with each drawing. According to a press release from the Mega Millions, the odds of winning a prize will increase from 1 in 24 to 1 in 23.

The odds of winning the grand prize jackpot will also increase as there will be one fewer Mega Ball number. The odds of winning the jackpot will now be 1:290,472,336, which is slightly better than the current odds of 1:302,575,350.

The jackpot amounts will also be larger with this new ticket price increase. The beginning jackpot of $20 million dollars will jump to $50 million dollars and jackpots are expected to grow faster, which would increase the average jackpot prize amount to $800 million dollars, up from $450 million dollars.
