Massive Federal Lawsuit Filed Against New York State
New York State is being sued by the Federal Government over the current immigration laws.
Yesterday, the new US Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the US Federal government has filed a lawsuit against New York State, Governor Kathy Hochul, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Mark Schroeder who is the Commissioner of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.

The lawsuit stems from the 2019 Green Light Law that was passed in New York State that prohibits the state's sheriff's department and other agencies from sharing motor vehicle information with federal agencies for the purpose of immigration enforcement. It also allows anyone over the age of 16 to get a New York State driver's license.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul responded to the lawsuit with a statement saying it is a baseless lawsuit and that the current law has been upheld by the courts in the past.
This is the second lawsuit that has been filed by the Federal Government over immigration issues. They have sued the City of Chicago over their "Sanctuary Laws" earlier this week.
