
Total Lunar Eclipse Happening Tonight Across New York
This week there will be a lunar eclipse happening and it will be visible across New York State.
This week you will have a chance to see something really amazing as a total lunar eclipse will be visible in New York State on Thursday night into Friday morning. There are only two total lunar eclipses in 2025 and this will be the only one that will be visible in New York.
The total lunar eclipse will take place March 13th and 14th.
According to the website timeanddate.com, there are several stages of a total lunar eclipse and all stages will be visible in New York.
The stages of a total lunar eclipse are:
Penumbral Eclipse
Partial Eclipse
Full Eclipse
WHEN CAN YOU SEE THE LUNAR ECLIPSE IN NEW YORK?
The 1st Penumbral Eclipse will begin on Thursday at 11:57:28 pm
The 1st Partial Eclipse will begin on Friday, March 14th at 1:09:40 am
The Full Eclipse will begin on Friday at 2:26:06 am
The Full Eclipse will end at 3:31:26 am Friday morning.
The Partial Eclipse will end on Friday at 4:47:52 am
The eclipse will be over at 6:00:09 am on Friday morning.
If the weather conditions are good, you will be able to see all phases of the total lunar eclipse from anywhere in New York State.

The best viewing will be in areas that have less light pollution and are near darker areas like around lakes and forests.
If you miss this lunar eclipse, you will have to wait until March 3rd of 2026 for your next chance to see one here in New York State.
