Tomorrow (April 9th) from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. WGRZ TV 2 On Your Side hosts the Kids Escaping Drugs Telethon to help raise donations to continue their mission. Join JOYfm's Joe Chille and the 2 On Your Side Staff! For the 24th year, WGRZ-TV Channel will host the Kids Escaping Drugs Telethon. The event will be broadcast LIVE from the Renaissance Campus in West Seneca, NY.

The first telethon aired in 1987 to raise funds to build the area’s first long-term adolescent treatment center. Renaissance House opened its doors in 1990. The Campus has since grown to include five buildings and 62 patient beds. Adolescents and young adults ages 12-20 are treated there.

In addition to the supporting the Renaissance Campus, funds raised during the telethon support the Kids Escaping Drugs education and intervention program FACE 2 FACE which now services over 70 area schools. In addition, hundreds of teens have sought help through the services of the early intervention program. KED also support art therapy and voc-ed programs for Campus residents and alumni.

Donate to Kids Escaping Drugs.

The telethon is an important educational outlet. Dozens of young WNY’ers and their families will share their stories of addiction with particular attention paid to the rising toll of the prescription pill abuse epidemic.

If you have a child in crisis or would like to speak to someone on the campus, please call (716) 821-0391.

Major supporters of the telethon include WGRZ-TV, 96.1 JOYfm, Valu Home Centers, West Herr Automotive Group, Coca Cola Buffalo Bottlers, UPS, Russell’s Steaks Chops and More,Tops, Wegmans, Buffalo Bisons, Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills.
