In my scenario, to help the team remain focused during training, the Buffalo Bills will send disgruntled running back James Cook to the New York Giants for a familiar face and some draft picks.

The Bills are giving up Cook along with a 3rd-round pick to the New York Giants for former Bills draft pick Devon Singletary and a 1st round pick in 2026. Singletary was a 3rd round pick by the Bills in the 2019 draft, so both GM Brandon Beane and Head Coach Sean McDermott know what he brings to the table.

Singletary lost his starting job with the Giants last year after an injury, but he fits right in with the Bills' "running back by committee" philosophy.

Singletary is in the 2nd year of a 3 year deal and would cost the Bills around $6 million in cap space. That is a lot less than the $15-20 million that Cook is looking for from the team.

The New York Giants Trade For James Cook

The Giants make this deal because they know what Cook can do, and having a workhorse running back will help with their shaky quarterback room. Russell Wilson is very good with play-action fakes, and the threat of Cook should open up those plays a lot more.

The Giants need to win this season, and while giving up a 1st round pick for Cook is not ideal, it could help the team get into the playoffs.
