NHL Winter Classic Returning To Buffalo, New York

It looks like more than just football will be happening at the new Highmark Stadium. In the midst of the NHL playoffs here in Buffalo, NHL commissioner Garry Bettman said the league is looking to bring the outdoor hockey game back to Buffalo.

NHL Winter Classic Coming Back To Buffalo, New York

The Buffalo Bills are set to open the new Highmark Stadium this fall, and it looks like the Bills won't be the only team to use the new stadium.

During his press conference, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman stated the league is set to bring back the Winter Classic to Buffalo. He didn't say an exact date, but hinted that it could come sooner than later.

The first-ever NHL Winter Classic featured the Buffalo Sabres as they hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Old Highmark Stadium.

That game took place on Janurary 1st 2008. That means the event's 20th anniversary is coming up in 2028. The Sabres were part of the 10th anniversary of the Winter Classic, so it would make sense that it would return to Buffalo for the 20th anniversary.
