5 Things To Do To Be Ready For A Spring Snowstorm In New York State
After the winter we just had in Western New York and Southern Ontario, people all over the region are eager to get started with spring. You've seen signs of the changing weather all over the region, and if you're anything like me, you're in a hurry to get back outside.
Whether it's getting the summer car out of storage and dropping the top or getting started on that spring honey-do list, now is typically the time to make sure you're ready for the warmer weather. However, just when you think it's time to bring the bikes outside and head to the park, a spring snowstorm decides to pop up.
I can't be the only person around the region who remembers having to do their Easter activities in a snowsuit. It seems like a few more inches of snow will hit the region before we really turn the weather corner.

Since more snow is forecast, now is still the perfect time to make sure you have what you need in case you get stuck in the car or have to stay inside for an extra day.
Don't let these next few days of cold temperatures and a little extra snow take away from the fact that spring is here and all we have to do is power through.
5 Things To Do To Be Ready For A Spring Snowstorm In New York State
Now, hopefully, you're like me, and you never take the snow brush out of our car regardless of the time of year, but in case you did, follow these tips real quick to make sure you're ready if the weather decides to get bad.
Gloves, Extra Warm Clothes, and a Blanket
If you are snowed in or stuck in a snowstorm, having a good pair of gloves and extra winter clothes will help you stay warm until help arrives. While you’re at it, you might as well throw in some blankets and non-perishable snacks.
Flashlight and Batteries
You may find yourself in an area with little light, or it might even be pitch dark outside. Make sure you have a way to illuminate your way as you travel.
Tool Set or Multitool
One of the things I use the most in my car is my multitool. You never know what you will need to cut, screw, or interact with, and good quality multitool or tool set will go quite far in helping you stay prepared.
An Emergency Shovel and Pickaxe
Have you ever been in a situation where you tried to turn onto a side street that hadn’t been plowed too well, and you got stuck? Having an emergency shovel in your car can be helpful. You can quickly shovel that extra snow to the side and then be back on your way.
Sand, Rock Salt, and/or Kitty Litter
Just like with the shovel, if you ever find yourself on a slick road or stuck in snow, throwing down rock salt, kitty litter, or sand will help you gain traction and get back on the move.
Road Flares
If you're stranded on the roadside or need emergency help, road flares are the perfect tool to let people know where you are. You might get an extra plus for using battery-operated ones instead of the regular ones you have to ignite.
First-Aid Kit
This item can be helpful to you all year. We all have had cuts and scrapes that could use antiseptic ointment and small bandages. Go ahead and grab a small first-aid kit and throw it in your trunk.
When Does It Typically Stop Snowing In Buffalo
According to the https://www.weather.gov/buf/FirstSnow" target="_blank">National Weather Service, the last flakes of the year typically happen in mid-April, with it rarely snowing in May. Considering these records go back to 1884, it might be a good call to say this is likely the last snow we'll get for the year.
Maybe.
