New York: Massive 1.5 Million Bags Of Shredded Cheese Recalled

Cheese-lovers in New York need to check their refrigerators! There is a massive recall that affects certain shredded cheese sold in New York. This news is a bit frightening, as we just wrapped up Thanksgiving. Cheese is definitely a staple in the menus of American Holidays like Thanksgiving - including mac and cheese, cheesy potatoes, dips, casseroles, and more.

The Great Lakes Cheese Co., Inc., of Hiram, Ohio, issued a recall of 1.5 million bags of shredded cheese, according to the Food and Drug Administration. The recall affects stores in New York, as well as, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MN, MO, MS, NC, NE, NM, NV, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, and Puerto Rico. According to Today, "the FDA reclassified the recall’s risk level to 'Class I' to signify that consuming the products may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.'” The products included in the recall may be contaminated with pieces of metal. The products were sold at a variety of stores, including Aldi, Target, and Walmart.
