Car theft is a major issue in America. Every year, hundreds of thousands of cars are stolen; some estimates say that a car is stolen every 32 seconds in the USA.

According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, auto theft is a multi-billion dollar industry in the United States, and it doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

This is a national problem, and states like New York, along with cities like Buffalo, are not immune to the car theft epidemic that's happening in the country.

Buffalo has seen quite a few car thefts this year. According to data from the City of Buffalo's OpenData website, there have been more than 3,500 reported auto thefts in the city in 2023, and some auto thefts have made national news.

While it's proven that car thieves have their favorites regarding the type of cars they steal, truly, no car is safe from being stolen when someone wants to take a car that isn't theirs.

That fact was recently proven when a viral video showed one of Buffalo's most unlikely cars to be stolen.

While it's rare for police vehicles to be stolen, it does happen from time to time. The theft of this squad car, which appears to have occurred in Buffalo's Emerson neighborhood, isn't the first time a police agency vehicle has been stolen in the Empire State.

Hopefully, investigators will be able to recover this BPD vehicle, and no one is injured during its recovery.
