Aquarium Of Niagara Opens New Outdoor Seal Exhibit In Niagara Falls

The Aquarium of Niagara has exciting news! They've been renovating their outdoor seal exhibit, and it's finally ready for people to see. Plus, they've had another secret to share that they've been keeping.

The outdoor seal exhibit is ready at the Aquarium of Niagara

It's official. The wait is over for people who have been waiting on the new outdoor seal exhibit at the Aquarium of Niagara. They announced today that it's reopened to the public and is free as long as you visit during operating hours.

The exhibit has been closed since late July of 2025 and had been slated to open last fall. The $350k upgrade was meant to update the 40-year-old exhibit and improve the comfort and safety of the seals.

Improvements include:

• A new ramp to make transport in and out of the exhibit easier on the animals
• More "beach" space for the seals to relax
• Replacement of the natural shale in the exhibit

They've been keeping another secret too (Shhh...it's a new seal!)

In addition to the news about the enclosure, the aquarium also spilled the beans about a new seal that is joining them. Her name is Papita and she's joining Lumiere.

They're calling her a "rescued resident."

The Aquarium is perfect for kids...and adults

One of my favorite things when my kids were growing up was taking them to see animals at both the Aquarium of Niagara and the Buffalo Zoo. It's a perfect opportunity for them to learn about animals, and in many cases, get up close to them in the safest way possible for the kids and the animals. We've had countless hours in these places, and I wouldn't do it any differently if I had to do it again.
