The Buffalo Braves are making a brief comeback—at least in spirit! According to reports, the Los Angeles Clippers will host a special throwback night honoring the team’s roots right here in Buffalo, New York.

If you grew up in Buffalo during the 1970s, you probably remember the glory days of professional basketball in Western New York and all the excitement that came with it! I grew up in the late ’70s, and I’ve heard countless stories about the energy inside the old Memorial Auditorium, the passionate crowds, and the fun that came with cheering on the Buffalo Braves.

The Buffalo Braves Make A Comeback

For at least one night, basketball fans in Buffalo can relive a bit of that magic—and maybe even grab some nostalgic Buffalo Braves merchandise when it goes on sale.

According to reports, the Clippers’ throwback uniforms will feature black, orange, white, and Pacific blue which is a nod to the original Braves colors. The Buffalo Braves were founded in 1970 and remained in Buffalo until 1978, when the franchise eventually moved and became today’s Los Angeles Clippers.

Many fans still believe that professional basketball could thrive again in Buffalo. However, with major NBA teams nearby with the Toronto Raptors, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, and Cleveland Cavaliers and with the strong following for the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bandits, and Buffalo Bisons, it might be tough to draw crowds like the old days.
