Instacart Offering Free Delivery In This Zip Code In Buffalo
The racially motivated mass shooting that took away ten lives on May 14, 2022, in Buffalo's Kingsley neighborhood caused a ripple of effects throughout the Buffalo area.
Those effects, some short-term and others long-term, have in many ways changed the face of a community that had been suffering the impacts of deindustrialization and suburbanization for many years.
One of those impacts was the short-term loss of the only grocery store that was available for several miles within the city of Buffalo. Since nearly one-half of the city is considered a food desert, the closing of one grocery store had a major impact on the area.

While that grocery store has since reopened, the longer-term emotional wounds to the community have yet to heal. Many in the neighborhood that is served by the Tops Market on Jefferson are still hesitant to visit the store where so many lives were cut short by a domestic terrorist.
To help alleviate some of the burdens for people in the neighborhood, Tops Markets, and Instacard have partnered together to offer people who live in the neighborhood free delivery on grocery orders.
Buffalo residents who live in the 14208 zip code are eligible for free delivery on their first 10 orders from Tops Markets that total $35 or more.
This was announced in a press conference that officials had at the Jefferson Avenue Tops on Friday, July 22, 2022. In addition to the press conference, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and officials from Buffalo Peacemakers and the Buffalo F.A.T.H.E.R.S. group handed our free groceries to more than 200 people in the Kingsley neighborhood.
