West River Parkway on Grand Island is currently used for normal traffic, however now New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is calling for the roadway to be converted into a trail for bicyclists and pedestrians.

According to the Buffalo News the conversion of the Parkway would take place between Long Road and Oakfield Road and cost around $2.5 million to complete. Construction is being scheduled to begin in 2017 with completion in 2018.
