We are only four days into October and it looks like snow could be coming our way this weekend.
Channel 7's meteorologist Aaron Mentkowski, there is a slight chance that the rain we will be getting here in Westen New York on Thursday and Friday will change over to snow early Saturday morning.
Typically the first snow of the season doesn't hit Western New York towards the end of October or November.
The good news is that this round of snow will really only be in the higher elevations and chances won't stick at all. It looks like the snow will be mainly in the Southern Tier and it will be a rain/snow mix.
Last year Buffalo won the "Golden Snowball" the award given to one New York city that gets the most snow during Winter. Overall Buffalo got 97.4 inches of snow which dwarfed the second place city Rochester which only got 87 inches of snow.
Rounding out the Top 5 in the "Golden Snowball" are Binghamton with 81 inches, Syracuse with 76 inches, and Albany with 36.4 inches.
So while you won't have to break out the snow shovel or your snowsuit there could be some white stuff on the lawn this weekend.
