Tonight will be the first of a double full moon in the month of May. Tonight's "Flower Full Moon" iis be slight smaller and less bright than normal full moons, since this full moon will be the 2nd farthest full moon of the year.

The second full moon of May will be on May 31st, and that will be a micro blue moon. The full moon on May 31st will be the furthest full moon of the year and will appear as the smallest full moon as well. It is considered a micro full moon since it will be the smallest and farthest away from Earth in 2026. The second full moon of any month is always called a Blue Moon.
The best times to view the full moons will be just after midnight on each day.
How Rare It Is To Have A Month With Two Full Moons?
It is rare, but not that rare, for a month to have two full moons in it. This usually happens once every two or three years. The next time we will have a month with two full moons will be in December 2028.
