Disturbing Stats on Distracted Driving
It's not exactly a Hallmark holiday, but April is "Distracted Driving Awareness Month".
Not long ago, we learned that Governor Cuomo was looking to close a loophole in New York State's current distracted driving laws, making it illegal to use a device, even when stopped at a light.
If you WEREN'T already aware of the dangers behind the wheel, these may be a little disturbing.
How many of them are you guilty of?
According to the National Safety Council...

ThinkStock ThinkStock35...the percentage of teenagers that brows social media while driving...or SAY they will once they get their license. (17% say they've already contributed to a crash because of it...)

ThinkStock ThinkStock45...the percentage of us that say we feel pressured to check our work email while driving.

ThinkStock ThinkStock71...percentage of us who say you can have up to THREE drinks and still drive (this is true if it's 3 drinks over the course of 3 hours. But definitely not 3 in ONE hour).

ThinkStock ThinkStock33...percentage of us who think it's fine to drive on less than 4 hours of sleep (several studies have shown that's as dangerous as driving drunk).

ThinkStock ThinkStock13...percentage of people who admitted to driving after smoking pot in the last month (!!!)
