Monday morning (April 2, 2012), the City of Buffalo opens up the process allowing developers to bid on a desired piece of waterfront property know as the "Webster Block".

"Now we're ready for private development to build on the momentum that we're already seeing by reinventing this prime piece of city land," Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said during a Sunday morning press conference.

Unsure where the "Webster Block" is, well if you have been to a hockey game, or a Bandits game you may have used it. It is the massive parking lot that sits in front of the First Niagara Center, described as 'potential gold' for someone looking to develop it.

The mayor hasn't any preconceived notion of what the bidders will propose to build on the land, but he has stated that the site become a 24-7 destination for visitors. Among those who have already expressed interest in the land are two of its neighbors, the Buffalo Sabres and HSBC, as well as developers from Toronto and California.
