Cicadas Set To Emerge Soon In New York State

Millions of cicadas are expected to emerge from the ground and invade parts of New York State. Brood XIV is set to emerge soon and while have an impact on most of New York and the surrounding states.

When Will Cicada Brood XIV Emerge?

This board of cicadas emerges every 17 years, and they will really start to get active this week across New York State. Most experts believe that most of the cicadas will have emerged by the end of May.

Where In New York Can You Expect To See The Cicada?

Most of New York State will not have to deal with this brood of Cicadas. Their biggest impact will be in and around Long Island and the New York City area.

There is also a chance to see some cicadas in Central New York near cities like Syracuse and Binghamton.

What Should You Do If You See A Cicada?

The best thing to do is nothing. These bugs are harmless to humans or pets. While they are big and loud, they don't pose any threat to you or your family.
