Fox's "American Idol" may have some competition later this spring. NBC late night host Carson Daly is moving up to primetime as host of a new singing competition series called "The Voice." Based on the Dutch series "The Voice of Holland," the series will feature four famous artists who will mentor and coach teams of singers throughout the competition. Contestants will be eliminated, one-by-one, until each celebrity has just one team member left to compete in the finals. The winner will be named "The Voice of America" and receive a recording contract and 100-thousand-dollars. "The Voice" is set to premiere this spring on NBC.

Daly, who hosts NBC's "Last Call With Carson Daly," says the show is based strictly on vocal performance and will allow aspiring talent to showcase their voices to a wide audience. "The Voice" will be co-produced by Mark Burnett of "Survivor" and "The Apprentice" fame, and John de Molwhose credits include "Big Brother and Fear Factor."
