- Construction officially begins today on a new attraction at Canalside. Ground was broken this morning on the Explore-and-More Children's Museum, a long-awaited home of hands-on experiments and family-friendly exhibits. The 13-million-dollar project is expected to open later this year.
- Sears has officially shut down in the Walden Galleria and Boulevard Malls. The closings leave large holes in the 2 shopping centers. No exact plans are in place for either mall to fill the gap.
- The 19th Running of the Canisius College Shoes for the Shelter 5k is this upcoming Sunday starting at 10 a.m. The registration deadline is this Wednesday.
- The debate over a site for Buffalo's new train station is intensifying. A petition has been started to favor the Central Terminal site for the passenger rail station. It was signed by Congressman Brian Higgins and more than two-dozen architects.
