Tonight is the opening of the 2023 NFL draft and this is where Bills Mafia can hope that the Bills draft the right player or players to help the team make it over the hump and win a Super Bowl.
While most people are going to debate who the Bills draft is tonight in the 1st round, it is the work of the scouts, coaches, and personal team in the late rounds that could make or break a draft.
With that in mind, here are the best Late Round draft picks by the Buffalo Bills since 2000. For this, a late round is a 5th-round pick or later.
Matt Milano - 5th round Pick in 2017
Since being drafted by the Bills, Milano has become one of the best linebackers in the NFL. He has played in 85 games, recorded 303 tackles and 10.5 sacks.
Stevie Johnson - 7th round Pick in 2008
Stevie Johnson played in 99 NFL games and recorded 381 catches for 4764 yards. He also caught 34 touchdowns in his career.
Mario Haggan - 7th round Pick in 2003
This versatile linebacker recorded 232 career tackles and nine sacks along with eight forced fumbles.
Sammy Morris - 5th round Pick in 2000
Morris was a bruising running back who racked up 3053 career rushing yards and 26 touchdowns. He played four years in Buffalo before leaving for Miami
Tyler Bass - 6th round Pick in 2020
This strong-legged kicker has been clutch for the Buffalo Bills and recently signed a new four-year extension with the team. Since joining the team, Bass has made 83 field goals out of 97 attempts for a field goal % of 85.6. He is also known for his strong leg and has recorded 170 touchbacks.
Hopefully, the Bills' personal department has done its job and we get another late-round gem in this year's draft.
