Now that we are heading into the first weekend of 2025 it is the perfect time to look ahead and lay out what could/should happen in Western New York this year.

Check out my 5 BOLD predictions for the 716 in 2025.

A BASS PRO SHOP WILL OPEN IN WESTERN NEW YORK

I know we have all heard this before. Bass Pro was supposed to change the Buffalo Waterfront but it never happened. Now there are new owners of the old Seneca Mall, and Bass Pro would be the perfect fit.

THE BUFFALO SABRES WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS

This season hasn't been great for the Sabres and the team hasn't made the playoffs since the 2010-11 season. Their streak of 13 seasons without making the playoffs currently ties the NY Jets for the longest in Pro Sports. Now that Lindy Ruff is back and the players are buying into the system, this is the year they don't go golfing in April.

FORMER MAYOR BRYON BROWN WILL RE-RUN FOR MAYOR

The former mayor of Buffalo left his job early for a new job with OTB, but after watching his TV commercials it is fair to say he looks like he misses running the city. Be on the lookout for Brown '25 campaign signs soon across the city of Buffalo.

BUFFALO WILL MISS EVERY MAJOR SNOWSTORM

This year is the year Mother Nature takes pity on us and keeps Buffalo and Western New York out of the line of every major snowstorm. I'm not saying who won't get feet of snow off Lake Erie, but Buffalo will not be part of major snowstorms in 2025.

BUFFALO WILL BE THE SNOWIEST CITY IN NEW YORK STATE

While we won't get a major snowstorm, there will still be plenty of snow and lake effect snow in the 716 and once again the city of Buffalo will win the "Golden Snowball" for most snow in New York State.
