Bills Mafia Paying Tribute To Ryan Fitzpatrick’s Mom
There are certain players that have passed through Buffalo that will forever be Bills in our eyes. Ryan Fitzpatrick is one of them, and the Bills Mafia is paying tribute to him.
If you would have said back in the 90's that Bills fans would be making donations to a Miami Dolphins quarterback, people would have said you were absolutely out of your mind. But it's happening, because that quarterback is Ryan Fitzpatrick, and he's one of the most beloved Buffalo Bills of the last 10 years.
Fitzpatrick is known to many Bills fans as "Fitzmagic" or "The Amish Rifle." Believe it or not, he's the first player in the history of the NFL to throw a touchdown for 8 different teams, and he's the first quarterback to have thrown for 400 or more yards in three consecutive games. He played for the Bills from the 2009 season through the 2012 season . Before that he was with the St. Louis Rams, and the Cincinnati Bengals, and after his time here in Buffalo headed to The New York Jets, The Tennessee Titans, The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, The Houston Texans, and is now with the Miami Dolphins.
It's fair to say that he holds a special place in the hearts of football fans across the nation. So when we found out this week that he mom had passed away, he was definitely in our thoughts.
Bills fans (also known as the Bills Mafia) have proven to be incredibly generous these last couple years especially. So it's no surprise to hear that they have begun to make donations to honor the quarterback in his mom's memory. According to The Buffalo News, the Concussion Legacy Foundation has received an influx of $14 donations this week. 14 is the number that Fitzpatrick wore while here in Buffalo.
According to Sportscasting.com, as of yesterday, the Concussion Legacy Foundation had traced approximately $15,000 in recent donations back to the Bills Mafia.
There are many reasons why this town is called "The City of Good Neighbors" and I hope that never goes away.
