Best Places for U-Pick Apples in WNY

Apple picking season is upon us! Here's a list of some must-do's when it comes to choosing a U-pick to visit this fall in WNY.

I posed the question on my Facebook page; here's the full list of suggestions from my social network.

A few places were mentioned multiple times, so here's more info on these popular spots to u-pick.

Becker Farms: According to their website, Gala, JonaMac, and Macintosh apples are ready to u-pick now. Keep checking their site, or call, for available dates and harvest info. Children 2 and under are free; $5.00 per person and includes a hayride to the orchard, and a 4 qt bag of apples. Bigger bushels are, of course, available for the avid Apple eater/canner/pie maker of the family.

Blackman Homestead Farm: This Niagara-area farm got lots of mentions in my Facebook poll. Apple Picking season begins this Friday, September 15. You can find their full 2017 season schedule here.

Stone Hill Orchard: Located in North Collins, info on this farm was hard to find online, so I suggest giving them a call to find out what's available for picking, and to confirm u-pick hours (716-337-2380).

Lynoaken Farms: This u-pick has an enormous variety! Located in Medina, they also offer donuts and a hayride to the orchard!

Hurd Orchard: The first of 49 varieties on site are now ripe for the picking at this farm in Holley.

Murphy Orchards: You'll be able to pick more than just apples at this Burt farm! If you're looking for a large selection of vegetables as well, Murphy has a large variety.
