It looks like the final month of Summer is going to be a wet one across Western New York.

If you are looking to squeeze in some quality family time outdoors before is back, you might want to pack an umbrella.

The Old Farmer's Almanac's extended forecast is calling for a wetter than normal month of August in the 716.

This forecast is in line with their 2024 Summer forecast prediction of a warm and rainy summer here in Western New York.

Looking ahead to August this is what you can expect weather-wise according to the Old Farmer's Almanac.

August's average temperature will be around 69°. That is 1° below average for Western New York for August.

The amount of precipitation predicted is 5 inches which is around 1 inch above average for August.

We will see a bit of cooldown due to a La Nina forming out West. La Ninas cause the jet stream to move more north which allows the systems to weaken over the eastern Pacific Ocean.

When a La Nina happens, the South sees warmer and drier conditions than usual and the North and Canada tend to be wetter and colder

This is why we could see a cool and wet Fall and more snow than usual during Winter.
